Solar For Puerto Rico
Empowering Puerto Rico
Building on the successful solar power projects we implemented in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, the Solar Village Project, in a strategic partnership with Solar United Neighbors, is embarking on an ambitious initiative to solarize schools, clinics, and more community centers across Puerto Rico. This transformative program is about more than just installing solar panels – it’s about community empowerment, resilience, and sustainability.
Our goal is to equip communities with the knowledge and tools to maintain and operate these renewable energy systems independently.
We’re driven by a vision of a Puerto Rico where essential services, such as education and healthcare, remain undisturbed, even in times of grid failure, thanks to the abundant, untapped sunlight that graces the island.
By joining forces in this historic initiative, we strive to illuminate the path to a brighter, more sustainable future and create a ripple effect of empowerment across Puerto Rico.
Together, we can turn the potential of solar energy into a reality for Puerto Rico, creating a robust energy infrastructure that is resilient, self-sufficient, and kind to our planet.
Did you know that Puerto Rico generates only around 2.5% of its electricity from solar power? That’s despite the island having over 250 days of sunlight per year, which offers tremendous potential for solar energy.
Our mission at the Solar Village Project is to tap into this untapped potential and significantly increase the share of solar power in Puerto Rico’s energy mix. By doing so, we’ll not only reduce reliance on fossil fuels but also make the island’s energy infrastructure more resilient in the face of future natural disasters.
