About Us

Our Vision

To create a world where all people have access to affordable, reliable, and renewable energy, enabling them to lift themselves out of poverty, improve their quality of life, and combat the negative impacts of climate change.

Our Mission

Solar Village Project (SVP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing clean, renewable, and reliable energy to underserved communities, beginning with those who can least afford it. Through the provision of solar arrays for rural schools and clinics that are off-grid or have unreliable access to electricity, and financial support for rural homes and businesses to purchase small solar arrays, we aim to empower communities and reverse the negative impacts of climate change.

Our Values

Sustainability, Inclusion, Empowerment, Innovation, & Partnership …

Our Beginnings

Plagued By the Nazi Reign and Terrors in His Austrian Hometown During WWII, Max Kselman Fled to India in 1939.

Joe Kselman, his grandson and founder of Solar Village Project (SVP), grew up listening to Max’s adventures about his refuge in India. Inspired by these stories, Joe traveled to India in 2012.

During his visit, Joe went to the village of Gauterine in the state of Bihar. Gauterine is extremely poor: multi-generational families survived on less than a dollar a day and the village had zero access to electricity.

Our Board of Directors

Our Partners

We are incredibly grateful to our partners for their generous contributions to our organization. Together, we address complex issues and successfully leverage our resources to provide access to clean reliable electricity for communities in need in the developing world. With support from our partners, we can continue to fund existing programs, and create new services in response to emerging needs – all with attention to both the quantity and quality of the assistance we provide.
