Our Programs

Solar Clinics

Our solar clinic program helps make life changing and life saving care in rural communities possible.

Solar Schools

Without reliable electricity, schools are unable to provide their students with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. By providing schools with solar power, we can help break the cycle of poverty and give students a brighter future.

Solar Water Filtration

Clean Water Powered by the Sun

Access to safe, clean drinking water is a fundamental human right, yet millions of people in rural communities around the world still rely on contaminated sources. Our Solar Water Filtration Program is designed to change that by harnessing the power of the sun to provide reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable water filtration solutions.

How It Works

Our solar-powered water filtration systems use cutting-edge technology to purify water from wells, and other local sources. These systems operate without the need for electricity from the grid, making them ideal for remote and off-grid areas where access to clean water is often a challenge. Powered entirely by solar energy, the filtration systems ensure continuous access to safe water, even in regions with unreliable or no access to conventional power.

Key Features of the Program:

  • Sustainable Energy Source: The systems are powered by solar panels, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and ensuring environmental sustainability.
  • High-Quality Filtration: Using multi-stage filtration processes, our systems remove harmful bacteria, viruses, chemicals, and other contaminants from water.
  • Cost-Effective: Once installed, the systems operate with minimal ongoing costs, offering a long-term solution to water scarcity without the financial burden of traditional filtration methods.
  • Community Empowerment: We work closely with local communities to train and educate them on maintaining and operating the systems, ensuring long-term success.

Our Impact

Through the Solar Water Filtration Program, we’ve already brought clean water to thousands of people, improving health outcomes, reducing the time spent collecting water, and empowering communities to thrive. Clean water is essential not just for drinking but also for hygiene, agriculture, and overall well-being. By integrating solar technology, we are making sustainable clean water solutions a reality for communities that need it most.

Solar Lighting Distributions

Solar Village Projects’ solar lighting distribution program aims to increase access to reliable lighting to improve people’s quality of life and productivity, while also reducing their dependence on non-renewable sources of energy.

Solar Micro Fund

For the 2 billion people in the developing world living without access to reliable electricity, solar power represents a sustainable and affordable solution to the problem.

One of the main barriers to reliable energy access is limited market availability and financial support. Removing those barriers facilitates access to life changing goods and services, opening the door for socioeconomic development.

Women’s Empowerment Program

Gender Equality: The Key to Fighting Climate Change

At Solar Village Project, we believe that gender equality and climate action go hand in hand. Women play a critical role in the fight against climate change, particularly in underserved regions where they are often the most affected by environmental challenges. Our Women’s Empowerment Program aims to equip women with the skills, knowledge, and tools they need to become leaders in the renewable energy sector, driving both gender equality and climate resilience in their communities.

The Intersection of Gender and Climate Action

Addressing climate change requires inclusive solutions that empower those most vulnerable to its effects—primarily women. By giving women the opportunity to lead in clean energy initiatives, we unlock the potential for greater climate resilience. Empowering women to participate fully in the energy sector not only helps bridge the gender gap but also accelerates the transition to sustainable, renewable energy systems.

Our Program’s Focus

The Women’s Empowerment Program is designed to provide comprehensive training and support for women, helping them build careers and businesses in solar energy while contributing to their community’s climate resilience. The program emphasizes both technical skill-building and entrepreneurship, ensuring that women can take charge of local clean energy projects and lead the way toward a more sustainable future.

Key Components of the Program:

  • Solar Technology Training: Participants will receive specialized training in the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar energy systems. This technical expertise will prepare them for roles as solar technicians and enable them to become champions of clean energy in their communities.
  • Entrepreneurship & Business Development: Women will also receive business training to develop and manage their own clean energy enterprises. From financial literacy to strategic marketing, the program equips them with the skills to build successful, sustainable businesses in the solar sector.
  • Leadership & Advocacy: The program fosters leadership development, empowering women to advocate for clean energy and climate solutions while becoming role models for future generations. Through leadership roles, women will help drive the renewable energy movement and ensure their voices are central to climate discussions.
  • Creating Jobs & Building Resilience: By training women in solar energy, we not only create jobs but also contribute to the long-term sustainability of their communities. Empowered women will be able to provide reliable energy solutions that reduce carbon emissions and combat the effects of climate change.

A Call to Action

The need for climate action has never been more urgent, and gender equality is the key to unlocking effective solutions. By investing in women and equipping them with the tools to succeed in the clean energy sector, we are building more resilient, sustainable communities.

Solar Puerto Rico

Solar for Puerto Rico

Did you know that Puerto Rico generates only around 2.5% of its electricity from solar power? That’s despite the island having over 250 days of sunlight per year, which offers tremendous potential for solar energy. Our mission at the Solar Village Project is to tap into this untapped potential and significantly increase the share of solar power in Puerto Rico’s energy mix. By doing so, we’ll not only reduce reliance on fossil fuels but also make the island’s energy infrastructure more resilient in the face of future natural disasters.
